I want you to not just be heard, but to be fully understood.

Hope.

I believe that hope is our most powerful tool to create change in our lives.

Many of the difficulties we face come from losing hope; whether that is in ourselves, in our futures, or in relationships. This in turn can lead to feelings of despair, grief and insecurity about who we are and where we want to be. We then feel exhausted, overwhelmed and uncertain about our future.

I believe that therapy is more than just providing you with coping skills that only work for a short time. Change happens when we understand our fears and can create meaning from our painful experiences. Feeling a sense of security in relationships gives us the ability to tackle the rest of what life throws our way. We long to be connected with other people and healing occurs when we can be in the relationships we desire most.

What can I do?

My greatest strength is to see what is blocking you from getting to where you want to be.

Confidentiality and Privacy

Information shared in counseling sessions will remain confidential as outlined by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). As a counselor, I am required to break confidentiality for the following reasons as outlined by the OBLPCT: reporting suspected child abuse, reporting imminent danger to the client or others, reporting information required in court proceedings or by client’s insurance company or other relevant agencies, providing information concerning licensee case consolation or supervision, and defending claims brought by the client against licensee.

Because parents play a key role in their child’s life, there may be times in which information will be shared. However, in order to develop a trusting and safe therapeutic relationship, confidentiality will be maintained whenever possible. Parents, please understand there will be information shared to me that cannot be shared back to you. The issue of confidentiality will be discussed more in detail at the intake session to ensure that all family members feel comfortable and confident moving ahead with counseling.
